The sky is in turmoil, threatening
In front of the store a tall gum tree invaded
by a flock of white cockatoos
Crows fleeing from one roof top to the next
Court yard, garden beds still damp
from overnight downpour
Cypress trees retaining their golden colour
on outer branches
Crawling lasiandra displays new autumn shoots
Aiming towards native rhododendron
and a year old apricot tree
Tiny moss grass needles struggle to recover
remembering dry spell that lasted
entire summer season
In this short span Boston ivy is
disrobed of its leaves
Left deserted on patio pavers,
still displaying brilliant colours
Concrete statues of a boy and a girl stand silent
Dandenong hills shrouded in clouds
In the distance the sigh and smell,
a cold autumn rain returning
Change always arrives with
a blustering wind sweeping ,
pushing the sun aside
Leaving a mantle of greyness,
once its strength subsides
Today , again I watch angry heavens
through a different window and remember
Every garden from the past
where I left a thousand irretrievable pieces
of my soul
