Blind Creek

Almost every day

I venture down

to a blind creek trail

to be on my own

for a little while

Discover new places ,

cast forth

aches of the mind

Catch swaying trees speaking

breathe in scented

freshly mowed grass ,

give a friendly wave ,say hello

to walkers that pass

Take a long look at the sky ,

if fortunate enough

I might witness a tiny baby bird

flapping its soft wings

trying to fly

If I tire out by walking

by self talking ,

there is a handy seat

to rest the old feet

But whatever ills harbour within ,

not knowing

whether to laugh

whether to cry ,

I envision your gentle frame

somewhere far ,

And your warm , homelike

reassuring smile
