I wish I wrote you … longer letters … more often …
About land in the midst of surging oceans
Sharply cut cliffs,
Assailed by raging waves
Endless coasts,
Miles and miles of
Stretched sandy beaches
Dwellings perched on top of
Shaky foundations
Lighthouse glowing
On lonely shores
About inland red earth
Scorched landscape
Roads, snaking forever,
Through stunted growth
Into the core of desert
About lush, rainy forests
Its native inhabitants
Where nature takes care of itself
Has its own pulsating heart,
Its own renewal power
About how vast, invert
A new world can be,
Watching the moon and sun shine
At the wrong time
How I speak to you in my head
Call your name in dark hours
Wishing I had told you
How I still keep in my heart
Every life season I have seen
For the last time
In reflective colours
Of your hazel eyes
