In this room

Against the European white

painted wall

Mary’s wild geese

my favourite poem

rests above

Augustin’s collection

‘ prayers from the dungeons ‘

Perhaps written

in smoke filled

Parisian

bohemian quarters

when times were hard

When his pining heart bled

for the mountains,

for the islands and the sea

of beloved motherland

———

Walt’s, ‘ leaves of grass ‘

near the open window,

where gentle breeze sneaks in

Stirs scribed pages

elevates the words

And carries them out

into the sun,

over abandoned streets

———

My constant companion

white orchid

a delicate wonder,

displays her beauty

in wondrous bloom

Like a virtuous

untouched maiden

———

St Raphael

archangel

holding in his hand

the caduceus

symbol of god mercury

Holy robe tied with

long red ribbon

Golden wings

rising above

snow caped alps

———

Black and white photo

of my dear mother

taken in her forties,

wearing her most loved

Sunday summer blouse

She – my ever present

familiar spirit

silently guards

the doors of my home,

keeps out

the invisible enemy –

While the mournful world

sheds the tears

amidst human loss

And franticly searches –

for the miracle to heal
