From the moment
you were placed
in my trembling arms,
uncertainty fleeted
over dusk-dark rooftops
Through a window pane
I discovered –
how autumn day
beneath veil of rain mist
darkness calls
———
On the pavement,
under the first street lights
in gale of blustering wind,
murmur suddenly
died away
Shielded in my arms
I held a delicate bud
of unblemished scent
Untouched by human envy
or mortal sin
———
I felt contentment,
calm – after a long storm
Amazing flame
that heals the wounds
In an instant
anxiety drifted across
pristine white walls,
as you brought a joy –
to all that waited
———
Here,
in foreign room of life
I searched the eyes of
a teenage girl
and viewed elation
on the face
whose girlhood
just ended
I thought how insatiable
hunger –
after yellow gold, opals
in black hollows –
Discovering darkness
———
Yet, in a body of
a young mother
under whose breasts
you waited,
in you innocent baby
I found all the wealth
amidst earthly scream
of awakening
Eternal beam of life
