Tomorrow

Tomorrow

we will go different ways

When you pack

gather carefully your possessions

Take family

black and white photo

or two

We are a pair ,

A dark haired woman ,

and a blond bony boy

I will safeguard your first winter coat –

baby shawl ,wooden hollow bird

Preserve this tiny boy dreams

of distant stars

Carl Sagan’s theory on lost civilisations

brilliant adventures of Dr Who ,

paper planes ,

all in your own design

You deserve to collect only happy memories ,

because I will hold onto sad ones

and store them –

where they have always been –

pinned on the walls of a mothers heart

Tomorrow

when love undoubtedly finds you

don’t let the shyness interfere

Let the inside flow ,

remember advice of two people

who helped your little bones grow

You are in my distance

taking snapshots of children most like you

If by this time

you haven’t forgotten to help them –

search for the stars

and make paper planes

Tomorrow

we will go different ways ,

take only happy memories

I promise to safeguard the sad ones

keep them

hidden

pinned on the walls of this mothers heart
