Darkness

If you are

looking for me,

I am not hard to find

Walk upstairs,

there is a white door

on your right

Open it

Do not touch light switch,

just walk in

I am here

Don’t be afraid of darkness,

she is my sanctuary,

protective shield

I spend many hours here,

staring through the window,

searching for answers

Sitting on the edge of bed

weeping

Talking to ghosts

Asking forgiveness from some,

trying to forgive others

No one can inflict pain here,

except if I let my mind

make my body suffer

I am not lonely, but busy

attempting to retrieve

lost words,

lost worlds,

from fading memory

It is a quiet time of night

I am on my own, yet

even in empty darkness

children are still here,

playing, talking, smiling

Books waiting to be read

Repotted orchid

growing a new leaf

Statue of two friends

holding each other

Come

sit by my side

Let us see in darkness,

what all others failed

to see in the light
